From: ron@mlfarm.UUCP (Ronald Florence) Newsgroups: comp.sys.tandy Subject: WP-2 Word Processor Message-ID: <375@mlfarm.UUCP> Date: 30 Nov 89 18:20:20 GMT Followup-To: poster Organization: Maple Lawn Farm, Stonington, CT Lines: 34 I recently purchased a Tandy WP-2 for note-taking in libraries and archives. Although Tandy markets the little machine as a Word Processor, the ROM is in many ways more powerful than my old Model 200, which finally died. I do have some questions about the WP-2, and hope someone from this group can perhaps help me: 1. Is there any way to speed up the screen display when the WP-2 is in terminal mode? Even at 9600 baud, the screen display is painfully slow. 2. Is there a way to transfer text files from the WP-2 as Unix files, e.g., with each line of text terminated with a LF? The command to convert files to "ascii" from WP-2 format does not put anything at the end of lines. I finally wrote an xmodem module for the Unix machine which puts linefeeds into uploaded files as needed, but it would be cleaner if the lines were sent terminated by the WP-2. 3. Can anyone add to the following termcap description which I put together mostly by guessing? wP|wp-2|Tandy WP-2:\ :bs:cd=\EJ:ce=\EK:cl=\EH\EJ:cm=\EY%+ %+ :\ :ku=^^:kd=^_:kl=^]:kr=^\:up=\EA:nd=\EC:ho=\EH:\ :sg#1:so=[:se=]:co#80:li#8:\ The WP-2 is capable of displaying reverse video, but I can't figure out the escape sequences. A few other capabilities, like reverse scrolling, would also be welcome. Thanks in advance for any help by email.
